In collaboration with Tile Blush Gallery in 2020, The Galbut Institute presented The Discarded Body, a solo exhibition of paintings by the artist Anna Vickers. Vickers draws from the history of the female nude and its critique to make trailblazing paintings that engage with formal and thematic subject matter prominent in the historical canon of painting. Vickers coins the term “discarded body” to provide a framework for making paintings after the period in which the canon of art history and the female nude at its center have been challenged.
